My updated daily makeup routine

Set of professional make-up brushes and cosmetic

My makeup routine changes throughout the year depending on the season, the condition of my skin and current trends, although with my daily routine,  I don’t tend to follow trends as I like to keep my makeup quite neutral and light during the day.

What I usually end up switching up is my foundation.  Some of you may know, I used to be a MAC foundation girl for years until about two years ago.  I am not sure if my skin just changed, but I found that the foundation just  wasn’t sitting right on my skin and almost sliding off before the end of the day.   Since changing my foundation brand, I now also like to change up my other products throughout the year.  So, let’s get straight into it, that’s what you are here for right?

First I prime my eye lids with Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion.  I cannot find an eyeshadow primer that does the job better.

I then dust on  a little Ben Nye  Banana Powder to cancel out any discolouration.  I tend not to wear eyeshadows at the moment.  I quite like the completely natural nude lid look.

I then coat my lashes with Maybelline Lash Sensational Lash Multiplying Mascara.  One of the best mascaras I have used in years.  It doesn’t clump, flake and separates my lashes without a struggle.

Next, I tidy up and fill in my brows with the Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Wiz in Medium Brown.  Where have my brows been without this?  I love the little spooly  attached at the other end of the pencil, it makes my life so much easier.  This pencil is so light and easy to use.  The most natural eyebrow look can be worked with this.

I then use a damp beauty blender and start by applying a very thin layer of the Mehron Celebre HD Foundation.  I use this very lightly to cover some acne scarring that is in the process of clearing up.  I use this as more of a concealer base for my foundation, so if you are unlike me and have a pretty clear complexion, you could skip this step. I then go in with my  Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk Foundation.  This is a medium coverage foundation but I found without the Mehron  Celebre HD Foundation, I wasn’t able to quite cover up the acne scarring and found a light layer of both of these foundations was the best combination to help me with both coverage and more importantly, to not look cakey.

Once I am happy with my foundation, I use my Nars Radiant Creamy Concealer and a tiny dab of the Kevin Aucoin Sensual Skin Enhancer.  I dot on two triangles under my eyes.  Trust me, a little goes a long way and this combination gives me an amazing wide eye, fresh highlighted look.  I blend this all in with my beauty blender.  I then go in with a little more Giorgio Armani Foundation to help blend in any merging lines where both the foundation and concealer meet.  I find this bring the whole base together in the most natural looking way. I seal my under eye concealer with my beauty blender dabbed in a little Ben Nye Banana Powder.

To warm up my complexion, I use MAC’s Give Me Sun Minerelize Skinfinish.  I use this as as bronzer/contour as it is the perfect golden non shimmer bronzer for my skin tone.

I then contour my nose very slightly with MAC’s Sculpting Powder and sometimes if I want a more contoured look, I will dust a little under my cheekbones.

To highlight the tops of my cheekbones, I take a tiny amount of MACs Cream Colour Base in Hush onto my finger and dab this onto the highest point of my cheekbones.   I then finish off my highlight with a sweep of The Balm’s Mary Lou Manizer over the cream base, my tear ducts, down the bridge and tip of my nose, along my cupids bow and if I am feeling the glow, I will go in and sweep some above my eyebrows and on the centre of my forehead.  As it is day time makeup, I am using a very light hand with minimal product. This light application is perfect for giving me a gorgeous youthful glow.

Next, I take my blush and at the moment I am loving Peaches by Mac.  I like to apply my blush after highlighting as I find this allows me to blend in any lines and diffuse the highlight very slightly but still allows the highlight to come through the blush naturally.

I then dust my Ben Nye Banana Powder under my contour, down my nose and along my forehead.  I avoid my cheeks and highlight as I am trying to keep the look youthful and natural and in my personal opinion, I find matte powdery makeup extremely dulling and ageing.   Whats wrong with a little glow ;  )

Finally for my lips, I always like to keep them natural and at the moment my favourite to sweep on is Mac’s Yash, with a dab of Reel Sexy (limited edition and sold out).  A close match is Mac’s Costa Chic or Ravishing I would say.  I love corals and this combination gives me the perfect natural coral look.

So that is my currently makeup routine.  It may sound like a lot for the day time, but it isn’t.  All these products allow me to put together a youthful, natural look.

Do you love any of the products mentioned? What are your favourite day time products?

I’ll see you soon. X.O.
