New Acne Routine

Oh how I have missed posting on here and I am so glad I am finally getting round to getting back to my little blogging world.  My laptop broke, work got crazy, life got crazier, but now I am back and ready to start sharing some exciting things with you.

I have been itching to fill you in on my new acne routine.  Hands down,  I would say this is probably the most life changing part of my beauty routine.  I recently went back to the doctor as I was getting fed up with breakouts that weren’t clearing and each breakout causing me more scaring.  I just wasn’t winning.  I was a little hesitant as the medications I have used in the past have stopped working as well as some that have caused a lot of irritation to my already sensitive skin.

Anyway, to get to the point I was prescribed two things.

  • Adapalene 0.1% / Benzoyl Peroxide 2.5%  – a gel I was to apply every night before bed
  • Doxycycline 100mg capsules –  an antibiotic tablet to be taken once every day.

I went away from the surgery disappointed thinking firstly, from past experience, the gel is going to burn and dry out my skin and secondly I am so forgetful, I just figured I am never going to keep up with these tablets on a daily basis. Well, what do you know, I have been using both products together and I cannot tell you how much of a difference they have made to my acne.  After the initial one week of flaky skin from the gel and a slight upset tummy from the tablets, I was fine.

Within a month I noticed I was not breaking out…at all!  All the nasty jawline bumps had gone..yes gone! I get the odd spot here and there but no acne which is a dream.  Because I am no longer breaking out, I can see a vast improvement in the hyperpigmentation I have suffered from over the last 2 years of my crazy acne battle.  I cannot wait to see how my skin clears up over the next few months.  I have high hopes and it is definitely down to these two products.  I highly advise you to go and see your doctor if acne is getting you down.  I know the feeling, I’ve suffered for 10 years and it is not fun.  I am not one for medication but I am so happy with what I have been prescribed and will surely be sticking with it.

Let me know how you battle acne.  Do you use the same medication? Does it work for you or do you use something completely different? I would love to hear about it.

Again, I am so excited to be back blogging so check back soon, I have so many things to update you all on.  Until then, I’ll see you soon X.O.

I really recommend going to to the docs, it’s made such a difference and I agree, if my skin is bad, I feel awful! : ) Good luck! x
