My updated daily makeup routine

Set of professional make-up brushes and cosmetic

My makeup routine changes throughout the year depending on the season, the condition of my skin and current trends, although with my daily routine,  I don’t tend to follow trends as I like to keep my makeup quite neutral and light during the day.

What I usually end up switching up is my foundation.  Some of you may know, I used to be a MAC foundation girl for years until about two years ago.  I am not sure if my skin just changed, but I found that the foundation just  wasn’t sitting right on my skin and almost sliding off before the end of the day.   Since changing my foundation brand, I now also like to change up my other products throughout the year.  So, let’s get straight into it, that’s what you are here for right?

My Top 5 Bronzers & Highlighters – Part 2

Fotor050720532

In my opinion, I feel like every girl should wear highlighter.  Do you know why? Because it is such a simple addition to your makeup routine and you don’t even really need to master a technique to achieve that natural glow.  Sweeping on a little highlighter on your cheekbones, forehead, nose, cupids bow and anywhere you want a little glow, works wonders.  For me, it instantly makes me look wide away, fresh, dewy and flawless.  I am so excited to share part 2 here with you.

Highlighters
1. Kevin Aucoin – Celestial Powder – Candlelight
I haven’t been using this highlighter for long, perhaps about a year now, but it has superseded any highlighters I have ever used and is now my number one.  Reason being, it’s perfect to use during the day as well as in the evening.  The colour payoff this highlighter gives, is something I have never seen before.  Such a beautiful sheen of champagne is transferred to your skin, without it looking to sparkly, over the top and just makes you look naturally dewy, which is the look Ipersonally love.  I dust this wherever I can, as it will never look too cakey or shimmery.  Cheekbones, bridge of my nose, forehead and cupids bow.  It will give you the most perfect glow.  It is on the pricey side, but it lasts. Purchase Here

2. Mac – Soft & Gentle – Minerelize Skin Finish
Soft & Gentle was the first highlighter I ever purchased years ago, and you wouldn’t believe, how long it has lasted! I love using this on nights out, as it does stand out but again, doesn’t look overly glittery.  It’s probably one of the most popular highlighters and I even use this as an eyeshadow, especially on the inner corners of my eyes, which instantly brightens and opens up my eyes.  A staple in my collection and will always be up there as one of my favourites Purchase Here

3.  Benefit FInishing Touch Facial Glow
I have had this liquid highlighter in my makeup kit for nearly 10 years and is a classic.  In it’s liquid form, it’s so natural, dewy and there is no way you can over do it with this hightlighter.  It has a soft rose sheen, which can be applied underneath foundation, mixed with your moisturiser or foundation or even worn alone.  I like to pat it gently onto my cheek bones and swipe the remainder off my finger down the bridge of my nose which immediately gives me that wide awake look.  Unfortunately, this product is discontinued, I don’t know why but you can purchase a similar version, by Benefit called High Beam. Purchase Here

4. The Balm – Betty Lou Manizer
Now this little beauty is the newest addition to my collection and boy is it addictive.  If I could wear this highlighter when just lounging around the house, I would.  It makes me feel so pretty, girly and instantly illuminates my complexion.  Again, not too shimmery, just the right amount of highlight to compliment and finish off the rest of your makeup.   Great to add to the inner corners of your eyes to open them up subtly and works like a dream with the Bronzing Bandit Bronzer, mentioned above.  Purchase Here

5.Mac – Stobe Liquid Lotion
I cannot live without using this on my clients.  I like to use this on top of moisturiser and before foundation.  The dewiness that shows through is so subtle and allows your skin to look naturally flawless.  I then like to dab this onto the high points of the cheekbones and looks even better in photography.  This can also be worn over moisturiser for a natural dewy day time look and gives you and instant boost to dull and tired skin.  One word, stunning.Purchase Here

What are you favourite highlighters and bronzers? Can you live without them, unlike me? I’ll see you soon. X.O.

August Favourites

So here is my first ‘Favourites’ post and I am really excited to share with you what I am loving this month.  I love trying new makeup and beauty products, but never do I just buy anything and everything without researching it, reading reviews, analysing the ingredients as well as establishing what exactly it’s going to do for me and will I really benefit from this product?  Let’s get started.

Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk Foundation

giorgio armani
I have been going through a phase of changing my foundation over the last 2-3 months.  I have always been a huge MAC girl and have used their foundation for the last 5-6 years.  But recently, I have found the foundation just hasn’t been sitting right on my skin, which can happen as our skin changes over time and products we can’t live without suddenly become products we certainly can live without.  So, as I do, I started to research foundations and I came across the Giorgio Luminous Silk Foundation,  I watched some reviews on YouTube and read a ton of reviews on Google, before I decided to go ahead and purchase it.  I cannot tell you how happy I am with this foundation.  It’s one of the easiest foundations to apply and just sinks into my skin when I apply it.  Even after a 9 hour day, when I come home from work, this foundation looks exactly how it was applied when I put it on in the morning, bar a little shine which does not bother me as this just looks healthy.  When you hear ‘luminous’, you may think, shiny, shimmer etc, but this foundation give you an incredible yet subtle glow which looks completely natural and makes your foundation look like skin.  This is a clear winner and now part of my daily makeup routine.  It is a little pricey but, in my eyes, completely worth it.

Kim Kardashian’s Glowing Golden Makeup

Kim Kardashian Takes Baby North West Out In NYCkim 2

So I am not a massive fan of Kim Kardashian herself, but I am a little obsessed with her makeup, I mean come on, which girly girl isn’t right?  Have you noticed how much softer Kim Kardashian’s day to day make up is recently? She has great features and looks like such a yummy mummy with the new makeup looks she is sporting these days.  So much so, she had inspired me to wear less too.  Don’t get me wrong, she still wears a full face of makeup but it’s much lighter and fresher and she certainly seems to have ditched the smokey eyes during the day! Yay!  It’s all about the fresh face with golden and bronzed tones.. I am in love with these looks.. Some of the products she has been using are:

Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk Foundation  – one of her all time favs and gives a completely flawless look.  She mixes a couple of different shades to get the perfect tone for her complexion. Tom Ford Traceless Stick Foundation is also another favourite of hers but is a bit more pricey but worth it if you fancy a splurge and photographs really well. I’ve tried it and it goes on extremely well and doesn’t budge.  Of course, I only save this for nights out as it’s one of my luxury products.  Tom Ford Eye Shadow Palette in Cognac Sable is what she likes to use on her eyes to achieve that golden/bronze glow.  Again another splurge, but consists of gorgeous soft gold and bronze shades. A little goes a long way, trust me! To achieve the all over bronzed I’ve just got back from the beach look, Chanel’s Soleil Tan De Chanel is something you cannot go wrong with! It’s so creamy and goes on naturally with no harsh orange tones, an excellent investment and I use this bronzer every day!

In terms of mascara, Kim has ditched the full on lashes and now opts for a few individual lashes followed by a coat of mascara.  She likes to use her own brand mascara.  I personally haven’t tried it but suggest Benefit’s, They’re Real which is my all time favourite mascara and cannot live without it.  It really opens up your eyes without looking too full on and the best thing.. no falsies needed!

Kim is known for her love of MAC’s lipstick in the shade Angel, however she is also known to like the nude shades from the Charlotte Tilsbury range which are creamy and very natural looking.

So, that is how to achieve her current soft and golden look.  I know some of the products are a little on the expensive side but I can vouch for them, totally worth it!

What do you think?  Do you have any makeup products that give you an amazing glow without looking over the top? I would love to hear about them.  I’ll see you soon. X.O.
