I get asked by friends, family and many of you out there, how I get my foundation to look flawless. Believe me it hasn’t always and I have many pictures, which I rather not share, where it has been less than flawless!
However, over the years, I have tested many foundations, brushes, sponges, primers, powders to get me to where I am today, which is a fairly long lasting flawless base.
Before I get into my routine and what I use, it is important and I mean extremely important to ensure your skincare routine is spot on. Without looking after your skin, it will be near enough impossible to get that flawless base. Watch this space for my updated skincare routine which helps me achieve the skin I am now in love with.
So lets get to it.

My makeup routine changes throughout the year depending on the season, the condition of my skin and current trends, although with my daily routine, I don’t tend to follow trends as I like to keep my makeup quite neutral and light during the day.
What I usually end up switching up is my foundation. Some of you may know, I used to be a MAC foundation girl for years until about two years ago. I am not sure if my skin just changed, but I found that the foundation just wasn’t sitting right on my skin and almost sliding off before the end of the day. Since changing my foundation brand, I now also like to change up my other products throughout the year. So, let’s get straight into it, that’s what you are here for right?
We all have little tips, tricks and random makeup application methods that work for us when applying makeup. Whether it be the type of brush you like to use to apply your foundation, using your fingers to apply certain products or perhaps even the order in which we apply products. Different things work for different people but I wanted to share my top five tips and tricks which I have stuck to for many years and have never let me down.
1. Use two different brand mascaras
I like to use two different brands of mascara when coating my lashes. It sounds strange, but when I use this method, my lashes appear longer, fuller, almost “false” like but not clumpy. I am not sure of the exact reasons as to why my lashes appear this way, but I think the ingredients in the two different brands “react” somehow to give a much fuller effect than using one brand with the same number of coats. I alternate between the two different brands for each coat and probably end up only applying 2 coats of each, sometimes 3 depending on how I feel.
