How I get flawless foundation coverage…

I get asked by friends, family and many of you out there, how I get my foundation to look flawless.    Believe me it hasn’t always and I have many pictures, which I rather not share, where it has been less than flawless!

However, over the years, I have tested many foundations, brushes, sponges, primers, powders to get me to where I am today, which is a fairly long lasting flawless base.

Before I get into my routine and what I use, it is important and I mean extremely important to ensure your skincare routine is spot on.  Without looking after your skin, it will be near enough impossible to get that flawless base. Watch this space for my updated skincare routine which helps me achieve the skin I am now in love with.

So lets get to it.

The Body Shop – Vitamin E – Product Review

I am a huge sucker for moisturisers and facial oils, but at the same time I won’t get sucked into any product, just because it is being hyped up on social media.  Because I have sensitive skin, and over the last couple of years, managed to get it to a really good place, I am even more fussy about what I let my skin drink up.

Since I was in high school, I was a massive fan of The Body Shop. I always felt their products were, ‘what you see is what you get’ and that is most certainly what they are.   But of late, I had forgotten about how great their products really are and decided to check out their Vitamin E range.

You may or may not know,  but Vitamin E is amazing for the skin.  It is great for protecting you from premature ageing and protecting your skin from UV damage and pollution.  This is perfect for me; living in London and most large cities, your skin is subjected to more damage than you realise.

I like to keep my day time moisturiser light, with a habit of using oils for my night time regime.  I like the feeling of not clogging up my skin too much during the day so I stick to a light moisturiser and given I am also wearing makeup and spending two hours a day travelling in and out of London, this product works wonders.  I then love the feeling that my skin is being nourished and repaired by a silky oil whilst I sleep.

My two staples at the moment are….

Day Cream – Vitamin E Moisture Cream

I find this day cream lightweight and it absorbs so easily into my skin making it even easier for me to prime my skin and continue with a smooth and light makeup application.  It feels refreshing and looks radiant almost immediately and I now use this daily without fail.

Night Oil – Vitamin E Overnight Serum-In-Oil

As mentioned earlier, I like to treat my skin to a nourishing oil.  I feel like my skin goes through so much during the day, that it deserves to be pampered and looked after whilst I sleep and boy do I notice it.  I am in love with this oil and enjoy applying it after my night time cleansing routine.  I wake up looking refreshed and glowing, with this oil allowing my skin to soak up the lightweight moisture it brings.  As an oil/serum this product is lightweight and non-greasy which is perfect for my problematic skin.

I love how these two products work hand in hand together, knowing that my skin is being protected during the day and pampered and repaired during the night.

Have you used either or both? Do you have any other favourites from The Body Shop? Let me know!

Face Cream vs Face Oil

I have suffered from acne since my early twenties and have battled it year after year.  I’ve used medication from the doctor for so long to control it, but I know the liquid antibiotic I have been using for so long is damaging to my skin and will in turn age me! No No no! There are other ways to maintain and control acne and one of the many important factors is what you put on your face.  The one thing we all do every day, or should be doing is moisturising.  But with what?  A cheap tub of something from Boots that seems to do the trick or an expensive top end brand which breaks the bank? Whose to say what is best for you?

Well, having battled acne all my adult life I have always researched what is good to slap on my face.  Let me be very clear, it’s not how much you spend that is going to keep your skins clear and young but what is in the product. Always go for non-comedogenic creams and parabens free.  I have my favourite, which is the Embrylolisse face cream, this is soothing and calming, doesn’t break me out and is a superb makeup primer.. win win..  However, I have come to learn that oils are in fact better for our skin than creams.  OIL?? Really?? Yes..! Fact: most face creams do nothing for our skin and we just end up wasting money time and time again on various creams on the market that do zilch and I mean literally zilch for our skin.  Face oil is the secret to healthy and youthful skin.

Thousands of years ago when moisturisers were not around what was used? OIL!  Organic oils are the best and there are so many on the market.  I have done my research and I can say, hands down Certified Organic Rosehip Oil by Trilogy is the best thing I have ever used to moisturise my face.  Rosehip oil has so many benefits for your skin, it hydrates, repairs and nourishes. You would think oil will make you shiny and slick, but no, this oil sinks into your skin, brightens, moisturises and repairs acne scars, which is fab for me! So, I am not going to go into too much detail in this post about face creams vs face oils, I will do a more detailed post with the pros and cons of both but I wanted you all to know and understand that oils are extremely good for your face.  Anything natural and 100 % pure such as coconut, almond, argan or anything organic is great for you.  If you feel uneasy about using an oil during the day, do what I do and massage this into your face at night and let the oil do it’s magic whilst your body repairs.. let me know what you think? I am definitely converted to face oils and wouldn’t dream of going back…I’ll see you soon X.O.
