My Top 5 Bronzers & Highlighters – Part 2

Fotor050720532

In my opinion, I feel like every girl should wear highlighter.  Do you know why? Because it is such a simple addition to your makeup routine and you don’t even really need to master a technique to achieve that natural glow.  Sweeping on a little highlighter on your cheekbones, forehead, nose, cupids bow and anywhere you want a little glow, works wonders.  For me, it instantly makes me look wide away, fresh, dewy and flawless.  I am so excited to share part 2 here with you.

Highlighters
1. Kevin Aucoin – Celestial Powder – Candlelight
I haven’t been using this highlighter for long, perhaps about a year now, but it has superseded any highlighters I have ever used and is now my number one.  Reason being, it’s perfect to use during the day as well as in the evening.  The colour payoff this highlighter gives, is something I have never seen before.  Such a beautiful sheen of champagne is transferred to your skin, without it looking to sparkly, over the top and just makes you look naturally dewy, which is the look Ipersonally love.  I dust this wherever I can, as it will never look too cakey or shimmery.  Cheekbones, bridge of my nose, forehead and cupids bow.  It will give you the most perfect glow.  It is on the pricey side, but it lasts. 2. Mac – Soft & Gentle – Minerelize Skin Finish
Soft & Gentle was the first highlighter I ever purchased years ago, and you wouldn’t believe, how long it has lasted! I love using this on nights out, as it does stand out but again, doesn’t look overly glittery.  It’s probably one of the most popular highlighters and I even use this as an eyeshadow, especially on the inner corners of my eyes, which instantly brightens and opens up my eyes.  A staple in my collection and will always be up there as one of my favourites Purchase Here

3.  Benefit FInishing Touch Facial Glow
I have had this liquid highlighter in my makeup kit for nearly 10 years and is a classic.  In it’s liquid form, it’s so natural, dewy and there is no way you can over do it with this hightlighter.  It has a soft rose sheen, which can be applied underneath foundation, mixed with your moisturiser or foundation or even worn alone.  I like to pat it gently onto my cheek bones and swipe the remainder off my finger down the bridge of my nose which immediately gives me that wide awake look.  Unfortunately, this product is discontinued, I don’t know why but you can purchase a similar version, by Benefit called High Beam. 4. The Balm – Betty Lou Manizer
Now this little beauty is the newest addition to my collection and boy is it addictive.  If I could wear this highlighter when just lounging around the house, I would.  It makes me feel so pretty, girly and instantly illuminates my complexion.  Again, not too shimmery, just the right amount of highlight to compliment and finish off the rest of your makeup.   Great to add to the inner corners of your eyes to open them up subtly and works like a dream with the Bronzing Bandit Bronzer, mentioned above.  Purchase Here

5.Mac – Stobe Liquid Lotion
I cannot live without using this on my clients.  I like to use this on top of moisturiser and before foundation.  The dewiness that shows through is so subtle and allows your skin to look naturally flawless.  I then like to dab this onto the high points of the cheekbones and looks even better in photography.  This can also be worn over moisturiser for a natural dewy day time look and gives you and instant boost to dull and tired skin.  One word, stunning.Purchase Here

What are you favourite highlighters and bronzers? Can you live without them, unlike me? I’ll see you soon. X.O.

Top 5 Christmas & New Year Makeup Must Haves

Xmas makeup

As the festivities are in full swing, the tree has gone up, the turkey bought and the mistletoe hung up, one more thing you need to get in order is your Christmas makeup must haves.

1.  The Balm – Mary Lou Manizer  – Purchase here
Highlighting is one of my favourite things to do makeup wise.  But during the Christmas party season, for me, I think it is essential to have that extra glow and shimmer.  This doesn’t mean go crazy with your highlighter and turn yourself into a sparkly bauble.  This highlighter is beyond amazing and can be built up without looking overly shimmery.  Use this on top of your cheekbones, down the bridge of your nose, sweep under your eyebrows and of course on your cupids bow.  This highlight will bring your Christmas party look together amazingly.

2. Benefit – They’re Real LinerPurchase Here
What can I say, this eyeliner is to die for.  It goes on so well and you can get the winged eyeliner look spot on, even if you are a beginner or not that confident with this particular look.  It’s super black and won’t smudge at all, making it the perfect eyeliner for those party nights out.

3.  The Balm – Nude Tude PalettePurchase Here
This palette has been one of my favourites for a long time and has some stunning shades to suit all skin tones.  From subtle nudes, to striking plums and deep gorgeous browns, this is the pallette to have during the party season.  The colour pay off from these shadows are amazing!

4.  Too Faced Glamour DustPurchase Here
You can’t have party makeup during Christmas without a little sprinkle of sparkle and these cute little numbers are perfect.  Use alone or why not layer over your eye shadow to give you that sexy Christmassy sparkle.

5. Too Faced Chocolate BarPurchase here
This palette had been on my wish list for some time and I cannot believe it’s taken me so long to purchase it!  It’s full of nudes, pinks and browns and a mixture of some different shades which all compliment each other.  This palette consists of mattes and shimmers making it extremely versatile and perfect to take you from the office to the dance floor.  Wait, I cannot believe I nearly forgot to mention this…this palette actually smells like chocolate! Yes, chocolate! How clever!

I will certainly be using all of my favourite makeup products during this festive season. What are your favourite festive makeup staples?

August Favourites

So here is my first ‘Favourites’ post and I am really excited to share with you what I am loving this month.  I love trying new makeup and beauty products, but never do I just buy anything and everything without researching it, reading reviews, analysing the ingredients as well as establishing what exactly it’s going to do for me and will I really benefit from this product?  Let’s get started.

Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk Foundation

giorgio armani
I have been going through a phase of changing my foundation over the last 2-3 months.  I have always been a huge MAC girl and have used their foundation for the last 5-6 years.  But recently, I have found the foundation just hasn’t been sitting right on my skin, which can happen as our skin changes over time and products we can’t live without suddenly become products we certainly can live without.  So, as I do, I started to research foundations and I came across the Giorgio Luminous Silk Foundation,  I watched some reviews on YouTube and read a ton of reviews on Google, before I decided to go ahead and purchase it.  I cannot tell you how happy I am with this foundation.  It’s one of the easiest foundations to apply and just sinks into my skin when I apply it.  Even after a 9 hour day, when I come home from work, this foundation looks exactly how it was applied when I put it on in the morning, bar a little shine which does not bother me as this just looks healthy.  When you hear ‘luminous’, you may think, shiny, shimmer etc, but this foundation give you an incredible yet subtle glow which looks completely natural and makes your foundation look like skin.  This is a clear winner and now part of my daily makeup routine.  It is a little pricey but, in my eyes, completely worth it.
